They first settled in the Cs\u00edk Basin, received the right to trade and settle freely in 1680, and by the early 18th century had four centres: Cs\u00edksz\u00e9pv\u00edz, Gyergy\u00f3szentmikl\u00f3s, Ebesfalva \u2013 later Erzs\u00e9betv\u00e1ros \u2013 and Szamos\u00fajv\u00e1r.<\/p>\n<p>In 1689 their church entered into union with Rome: since then they have been Catholics while keeping their Armenian rite. In the 18th and 19th centuries they gradually integrated into Hungarian society in language and customs.
