St Nicholas Rotunda – Selo (Nagytótlak)
Standing in the fields on the northern edge of the village, this round church is one of the oldest architectural monuments of Prekmurje and the best-known rotunda in Slovenia. It is dedicated to Saint Nicholas and the Virgin Mary.
The rotunda was built in the 13th century, mainly of brick. Its conical shingle roof is crowned by a small wooden bell turret. Written sources of 1340 and 1365 mention the village as “seu valle Lak Sancti Nicolai”, the valley of Saint Nicholas – the church's patron saint lives on in the name of the settlement.

Its interior is covered with frescoes from the 14th and early 15th centuries. The first paintings were probably made in the first third of the 14th century, and around 1400 large theological scenes were painted on the walls and the dome.
Visiting: The rotunda stands on the northern edge of Selo (Nagytótlak), a short drive from the spa town of Moravske Toplice and from Murska Sobota. It is worth enquiring in advance about visiting the interior.
